You Tube

Email has exposed me to many a you tube funny video it was good to explore some serious applications.

although many a laugh has been had over a funny

I still find it incomprehensible that someones idea of entertainment is searching the web for someone elses bizarre uploaded video

a serious sign of getting old!

but then after a little while of searching you realise that you tube can be a form of artistic communication - there are some clever people out there!

wiki

the world of wikis

wow! I really like this exploration today.

I love how information can be shared

but at the same time it is thought provoking too!
The old addage dont believe everything you read is good wisdom for the net too!

I really enjoyed the Policing wiki of NZ - what a fantastic way to canvas opinion.

I can do wiki - its a good tool.

RSS

creating the Bloglines account and the feeds using favourites was an easy task

coming up with the topics to feed was the challenge, do I have so little interests?
the topics I tried to pull up related to my hobbies were peoples views and accounts - today I did....
I have too much to fit into my day without reading someone elses.

I still cant come to grips with needing to be informing myself with opinions by people I quite frankly dont want to get to know and share ideas with over the web
Another reason to be sitting at the computer instead of getting out there interacting with the world and people on a real interface.

I would rather lie on my back on the grass with my children working out what we see in the shape of the clouds than read the views of a stranger who wants to share his knowledge about the myth of baby poo not smelling! I am still shaking my head - there are no words to articulate my thoughts - its mind boggling. One thing is for sure the web has allowed us all 5 minutes of fame.

Work application, as a source of immediate current information I am sure that RSS is invaluable - if the job descripton allows one time to read it all.

I am a cynic on this one
sorry
just not my thing
I like the quote for the day and the photos from the powerhouse but spare me the rest, please

flickr

This weeks adventure with Learning 2 is exploring flickr - amazing what images you can find

I am not sure if I would want to post mine to the world but it seems a great way for photographers to show their skills

I certainly with look at storing and sorting my photos, how far I share will be the question.

I loved the vegemite images in particular the "expensive" vegemite at first it looks like a creative image and when you read the tag you realise you need to look closer - the jar of vegemite was rung up for $1,135 - great photograpy - inspiring really and it was a good lesson in tagging - because it was not until I went back to upload that I realised the real impact of the photo.

check it out
http://flickr.com

search for expensive vegemite!

Today is a little celebration of our local library so I will try the "challenge" latter

Maybe the upload will even work!

all good fun

NSW Public Libraries learning 2

Its with a mixture of excitement and regret that I join the journey of learning 2
It's fun to explore the new depths of cyber space, "to do" what lots of people are doing,
the regret comes from yet another activity in front of the computer.

I wonder where we are going as a human race when we sit for hours - preferring to communicate with each other via a computer, locked away, self absorbed, hiding our true selves - will compassion, kindness and touch be lost and what will it's impact be?

How do I know who you really are? Are you telling me the truth? Why do I need to seek out your thoughts and opinions? Do I need them? How do I know whether to value them?
Unless I can see your face, look into your soul, how will I know if I really do like you? and therefore value what you have to tell me.

but this is an opinion blog I guess
A blog which shares information and facts, a blog which advertises - well that's a whole different question!
What a great way to reach a large number of people. What a great tool for a library!
